Our Members
Who Joins New Day?
The Member community consists predominantly of professionals living in Hong Kong who are intent on contributing to grass roots projects focused on the improvement of the lives of women in Asia by:
- making contributions to help fund grass roots projects focused on improving the lives of disadvantaged women
- helping to locate and promote specific projects
- using their skills to manage and develop the projects supported by New Day
- learning more about the issues affecting the communities we are supporting.
Member Participation
Members are encouraged to participate in all aspects of New Day, including project sourcing and leadership and site visits of projects. Click HERE for guidelines on Member involvement.
We also understand that most Members will only be able to contribute financially due to time constraints. Your monthly contributions are the lifeblood of New Day.
The level of membership involvement is up to you. Members can simply donate funds, or they can get heavily involved in sourcing, implementing and following up on projects New Day funds.
Our Approach
First and foremost, New Day is focused on making sure that member donations go directly to funding the projects selected by our membership.
Importantly, members are encouraged to take an active role in project selection and project implementation. In this way, the members of New Day will know exactly how their contributions are being utilized and can in fact help in the day-to-day decision making as to how funds are to be disbursed.
New Day gives our members the unique opportunity to be a Project Leader for the implementation of one of our projects, which is completely different from other types of charitable donations which are typically non-focused and difficult to trace.
Ultimately, the goal for New Day is to ensure that our membership has a direct, intimate and lasting connection to the Projects we are financing and the individuals that we are assisting.
Membership Criteria
Financial contributions are the key to our success, as such it is critical that New Day be uncomplicated for individuals to join. The main criteria for joining are as follows:
Establish Standing Instruction for Monthly Contributions
Monthly contributions by standing instruction are essential to New Day in order to remove the focus from fund-raising, facilitate our budgeting, and facilitate contributions from Members. While one-off donations are welcomed, Members residing in Hong Kong are encouraged to establish standing instructions for contributions. Contributions
Circumstances of all Members are different, as such New Day will not set a minimum contribution amount; however, we encourage Members to give at least HKD500 per month.
Ending Membership
As New Day functions based on projected donations from monthly contributions, we encourage all Members who are ending their donations to please give advance warning by sending an email to : Emily Richley
